Job summary

PEXA is expanding its UK team and seeks a hands-on Lead AWS Platform Engineer to shape the platform strategy for PEXA Go. You will own infrastructure, drive reliability and security, and work closely with software and operations teams in a hybrid environment.

You’ll design and deploy AWS services (EKS, RDS/Aurora, MSK, S3, IAM), implement Terraform pipelines, and lead platform upgrades while ensuring documentation, incident readiness and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building/operating production platforms in AWS.
• Strong Terraform experience including modules, testing, version control and state management.
• Experience with CI/CD and secure deployment practices.
• Understanding of high availability, backup, disaster recovery, failover and capacity management.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, tracing and actionable alerting.

Responsibilities

• Turn platform strategy, architecture and standards into practical plans and working solutions.
• Design, build and improve AWS services that support PEXA Go (EKS, RDS/Aurora, MSK, S3, IAM, networking).
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and deployment pipelines.
• Plan and deliver platform upgrades, lifecycle work and technical improvements.
• Improve platform reliability, security, observability and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with engineering/ops on safe deployments, incident response and service readiness.
• Share technical direction through reviews and collaboration, keep docs up to date.
• Participate in paid platform engineering on-call rota.
