Job description

Lead Avionics Technician in GAC St. Louis

Unique Skills:

*This position is for 5th shift - Weekend Nights.*

Self-sufficient, resourceful. Knowledge of Gulfstream products preferred.

The compensation range for this role is $42.06 - $49.07 per hour.

Final compensation will be determined by several factors including qualifications, skills, education, experience, and location.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years experience on large/mid-size aircraft or 8 years in aircraft avionics/electrical field; or two years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics plus six years related experience. FAA A&P license or ability to obtain a repairman certificate within 30 days. FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.

Position Purpose: Plans and coordinates all electrical/avionics activities, providing daily updates on aircraft schedules, repairs, parts, and vendor shipments. Collaborates with hangar management to schedule aircraft activities.

Job Description:

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, schedules, and completes work on authorizations, providing daily status reports.
  2. Coordinates electrical and avionics activities to meet schedules and deadlines, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations.
  3. Supervises and guides electrical technicians, including troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
  4. Reviews daily job charges for accuracy.
  5. Maintains test equipment, hand tools, and special tools.
  6. Keeps current with aircraft service changes, bulletins, and maintenance procedures.
  7. Supervises safety programs and maintains logs and records.
  8. Enforces safety and tool control regulations.
  9. Adapts to schedule changes and coordinates with other disciplines.

Additional Functions:

  1. Promotes innovation and Lean thinking.
  2. Supports aircraft certification and testing, including flight tests as needed.

Other Requirements:

  1. Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems and maintenance records.
  2. Proficiency in troubleshooting various aircraft systems preferred.
  3. Ability to interpret electrical/avionics drawings and blueprints.
  4. Demonstrated leadership and excellent communication skills.
  5. Ability to plan, organize, and work independently.
  6. Proficiency with PC, Windows, and Microsoft Office.
  7. Physical ability to climb ladders, work in restricted areas, and lift up to 100 pounds.
  8. Skilled in using hand tools and avionics test equipment.
  9. Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
