Lead Avionics Technician (Second Shift) in GAC St. Louis

This role is on Second Shift (Weekday Evenings).

The compensation range for this role is $42.06 - $49.07 per hour.

Final compensation will be determined by factors including qualifications, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, and location.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years experience on large/mid-size aircraft, or 8 years in aircraft avionics/electrical field; or accredited schooling with related experience. FAA A&P license or repairman certificate within 30 days preferred. FCC license or NCATT certification is also preferred.

Position Purpose: Plans and coordinates electrical/avionics activities, providing daily updates on aircraft schedules, repairs, parts, and vendor shipments. Coordinates with hangar management to meet aircraft requirements.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Plans, schedules, and completes tasks on work authorizations to meet the master schedule, providing daily status reports.
  2. Coordinates electrical and avionics efforts to meet schedules and deadlines, ensuring compliance with procedures and regulations.
  3. Supervises and guides electrical technicians in troubleshooting, inspections, and maintenance, and participates in performance appraisals.
  4. Reviews daily job charges for accuracy.
  5. Maintains preventive maintenance programs for tools and equipment.
  6. Keeps updated on aircraft service changes, bulletins, and maintenance procedures.
  7. Supervises safety programs in the hangar, including equipment operation and housekeeping.
  8. Maintains logs and records as required.
  9. Enforces safety, FOD, and tool control regulations.
  10. Adapts to schedule changes and coordinates with other disciplines.
  11. Fosters innovation and lean practices.
  12. Supports aircraft certification and testing, including flight tests if required.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements: Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, troubleshooting, manuals, and maintenance records. Proficiency in operating various aircraft systems and reading blueprints is preferred. Demonstrated leadership, excellent communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to work in restricted spaces and lift up to 100 pounds are required. Must be able to use hand tools and avionics test equipment, and communicate effectively in English.
