Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach is seeking a Lead Avionics Controllers Hardware Engineer to guide a small team of electrical engineers designing custom avionics controllers for Terran R. You will interface with rocket engines, fluids, and separation systems, and own the product lifecycle from design through flight operations.

You will mentor engineers, drive rigorous engineering processes, and collaborate with propulsion, GNC, mechanical, and software teams to ensure robust, high-reliability

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years electronics design for harsh environments & mission-critical apps.
• Strong mix of signal conditioning, sensors, ADCs/DACs, filters.
• Experience designing control electronics for actuating loads (solenoids, motors, firing circuits).
• Experience interfacing sensors (pressure, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, flow meters).
• Experience leading RCCA investigations and 5 Whys/fishbone/fault tree analyses.
• Experience mentoring small teams and driving engineering best practices.
• Experience cross-functional collaboration with mechanical, thermal, software, propulsion.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of electrical engineers designing custom avionics controllers.
• Interface controllers with engines, fluids, and separation mechanisms across Terran R.
• Own full lifecycle from design, bring-up, V&V, qualification to flight operations.
• Collaborate with propulsion, GNC, fluids, and stage engineering to meet requirements.
• Mentor engineers and foster collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
