Job summary

General Motors is seeking an AV Test Engineer to lead onsite closed‑course testing at the Desert Proving Ground in Yuma, AZ. You will own a small fleet, plan regression and calibration tests, and coordinate with remote teams to ensure data quality and safety.

Responsibilities include vehicle readiness, test execution decisions, and clear technical communication with engineering and operations. This role requires independent work and strong problem‑solving in a demanding proving ground

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive engineering, robotics, or related field.
• Experience planning and executing complex electro‑mechanical system tests.
• Ability to work independently with limited onsite support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite closed‑course testing for AV vehicles at Yuma.
• Plan and execute regression, feature and calibration tests.
• Coordinate test sequencing, reservations, and safety reviews with stakeholders.
• Manage two to three AV test vehicles and readiness checks.
• Provide technical direction and decision making during test execution.
• Develop winter‑readiness plans and documentation.
