Job summary

Durin is building the technology stack for automated diamond core drilling and seeks experienced drillers to operate the automated platform in the field. You will run the rig, monitor behavior, and flag mechanical faults while contributing to field tests that shape the next rig revision.

You will lead shifts, ensure safety and housekeeping, and collaborate with geologists, operations managers, and engineering teams across site boundaries.

Qualifications

• 7+ years running a diamond core drilling rig, on surface or underground operations
• Strong mechanical understanding of drill rigs: hydraulics, drive head, rod handling, pumps
• Disciplined in inspection and maintenance with early warning signs
• Proficient with a wide range of diamond core rig tooling and downhole problems
• Safety-first mindset with ability to lead a crew on shift

Responsibilities

• Operate and run a diamond core drilling rig through full shifts to meet core quality and recovery targets
• Learn and operate automated drilling platform, adapt to new controls
• Perform daily shift checks and inspections, track servicing and field repairs
• Diagnose mechanical/hydraulic issues early to prevent downtime
• Set up/tear down drill sites, manage site housekeeping and water supply
• Lead the crew on shift and communicate with geologists and clients
• Maintain shift reports on consumables, fluids, downtime, and equipment condition
• Stop operations when conditions warrant and communicate with stakeholders
• Report rig behavior and design shortcomings to engineering for platform improvements
• Support field trials of new tooling and automation features
