Job summary

Mariana Minerals in Moab, Utah, seeks a Core Driller to operate diamond core drill rigs at our open-pit copper mine. You will ensure safe, accurate drilling, record core data, and support training of a Driller Assistant while upholding MSHA safety standards. Ideal candidates have 2+ years drilling experience (diamond core preferred) and strong mechanical aptitude.

RC, air rotary or blast hole experience is welcome; CDL is a plus. Housing and relocation aid are available.

Qualifications

2+ years of drilling experience, ideally as a diamond core driller.
RC, air rotary or blast hole drillers are encouraged to apply.
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of drilling techniques/equipment.
Experience training or leading drill helpers is a strong plus.
Real commitment to safety.
Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a diamond core drill rig in line with site procedures and MSHA requirements.
Collar holes accurately to the drill plan and maintain alignment.
Perform pre-start inspections and routine servicing; troubleshoot to minimize downtime.
Monitor and adjust drilling parameters (fluid pressure, rotation speed, WOB, penetration).
Ensure core is recovered, labeled, boxed, and contamination-controlled.
Maintain drill logs, footage, and daily production reports.
Mentor the Driller Assistant and lead the crew safely.
