Job summary

Durin Mining Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design and build the world's most advanced drill rigs, taking projects from concept through production and global deployment.

You will own mechanical system development, perform simulations and FEA, and collaborate with electrical, control, and software teams to deliver rugged systems for harsh environments. Note: mining experience not required; location at El Segundo HQ.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, analyzing, building, and testing high-performance mechanical systems.
• Proficiency with CAD and FEA tools.
• Experience with heavy machinery and/or autonomous systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the development of next-generation drilling rigs from structure and mechanism design to advanced manufacturing.
• Develop design concepts from a clean sheet with a first principles, physics-based approach.
• Perform simulations, stress analysis, hand calculations, and FEA to ensure durability and performance.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure hardware integrates with Durin's electrical, control, and software systems.
• Be responsible for project delivery timeline from early design through production, rollout, and global operation.
• Exemplify technical excellence and accountability.
• Optimize mechanical systems for performance, weight, and manufacturability.
• Conduct field visits to understand operational challenges and implement improvements.
• Source, retain, and advise vendors from a technical perspective.
