Job summary

Talentooze is seeking a senior systems engineer for automotive embedded platforms. You will drive system architecture, review DFMEA outputs, and ensure alignment with ISO 26262 and cybersecurity standards.

The role requires autonomous leadership, deep diagnostics expertise, and experience with cryptographic authentication. Based in the United States, Michigan, Dearborn area, the role focuses on cross‑functional collaboration, delivering secure on‑vehicle software updates, and leading project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 7+ years of hands‑on experience in automotive systems engineering, embedded systems design, or vehicle electronic architectures.
• DFMEA mastery with AIAG‑VDA DFMEAs for embedded automotive hardware/software systems.
• Expert‑level understanding of UDS (ISO14229) diagnostic protocol design, DTC calibration, and diagnostic script/tooling verification.
• Experience writing system specifications for cryptographic authentication, secure software updating/flashing, or FoD architectures.
• Ability to operate as a self‑starter, resolving complex system trade‑offs with minimal direction.

Responsibilities

• Review System Architecture & Requirements Documents and lead cross‑functional reviews.
• Lead DFMEA activities and ensure alignment with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and related patterns.
• Review system security workflows around digital signatures and AUTOSAR/Cybersecurity standards.
• Manage technical deliverables, timelines, and open issues with minimal oversight.

We are working with one of our most amazing clients, who is a global technology and engineering company specializing in embedded software and AI solutions for the automotive industry, partnering with leading automakers to advance next-generation, software-defined vehicles.

The Role - What you'll do:

1. System Architecture & Requirements Engineering

• Requirements Review: Review and understand System Technical Requirements, Feature Documents.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Lead technical reviews with System Requirements Teams and Feature Owners.

2. DFMEA & Reliability Engineering

• DFMEA: Understand DFMEA documentation for complex electronics and embedded systems, establishing clear boundary diagrams, structure trees, and function/failure networks.
• Functional Safety Synergy: Ensure tight alignment between system DFMEA findings, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessments (HARA), existing Signature Patterns and technical safety concepts.
• Secure Feature Architecture: Review system-level security workflows for digital signatures.
• AUTOSAR & Cybersecurity Standards: Ensure designs comply with ISO/SAE 21434 automotive cybersecurity engineering standards, incorporating AUTOSAR Crypto Stack, Hardware Security Modules (HSM), and Secure Onboard Communication(SecOC).

4. Autonomous Project Execution

• Self-Directed Leadership: Manage technical deliverables, timelines, and open issue resolution independently without requiring daily operational oversight.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Industry Experience: 7+ years of hands‑on experience in automotive systems engineering, embedded systems design, or vehicle electronic architectures.
• DFMEA Mastery: Proven track record of independently leading and completing AIAG‑VDA DFMEAs for embedded automotive hardware/software systems from concept through SOP.
• Diagnostics Expertise: Expert‑level understanding of UDS (ISO14229) diagnostic protocol design, DTC calibration, and diagnostic script/tooling verification.
• Digital Signature Competency: Demonstrated experience writing system specifications for cryptographic authentication, secure software updating/flashing, digital signatures, or Feature-on-Demand (FoD) architectures.
• Autonomy: Proven ability to operate as a self‑starter, resolving complex system trade‑offs and technical roadblocks with minimal managerial direction.

Preferred (Plus) Qualifications

• Deep familiarity with System Engineering, DFMEA creation and ISO 26262 Functional Safety workflows (ASIL B through ASIL D systems).
• Familiarity with ADAS, braking, chassis control, or powertrain electronic control units.
