Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Senior Automotive Design Quality & Craftsmanship Engineer to ensure Class-A visual quality and craftsmanship across the product development lifecycle. You will collaborate with Design, CMF, Mastering, Suppliers, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing, and Product Development teams to resolve appearance-related issues before production.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, balancing design intent with manufacturing feasibility, and driving alignment for production

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Product Development, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in quality, product development, craftsmanship, supplier quality, or design validation environments, including at least 5 years in automotive.
• Experience evaluating appearance-sensitive or Class-A automotive components.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to balance design intent with manufacturing feasibility.

Responsibilities

• Design Quality & Craftsmanship Validation to ensure Class-A components meet visual quality and design intent.
• Evaluate vehicle and accessory components against appearance and quality standards.
• Support development and maintenance of craftsmanship expectations across programs.
• Drive alignment between design intent and production execution.
• Mold & Grain Approval activities including review of molded parts and tooling for cosmetic defects.
• Appearance Approval Process (AAR) review of painted and other Class-A parts for visual quality and dimensional stability.
• Issue identification and resolution with suppliers and engineering teams.
• Maintain documentation and records for grain and appearance approvals and craftsmanship reviews.
