Job summary

Blue Origin’s Factory Automation team within Operations drives automated manufacturing systems across the company’s facilities. We seek an experienced Project Engineer with hands-on mechanical and/or controls engineering background to lead complex automation initiatives from requirements through production-ready deployment.

The role emphasizes building scalable automation, leading cross-functional teams, and delivering reliable manufacturing capability for current and future programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on automation experience; 2+ years in a leadership role on capital equipment projects.
• Hands-on automation experience to lead engineering teams and make design decisions.
• Experience with automation simulation and cycle time analysis tools.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Define and validate system requirements for automated manufacturing solutions.
• Develop simulations and cycle time models to evaluate automation strategies.
• Develop initial conceptual solutions for automated manufacturing equipment.
• Lead Design for Automated Manufacturing initiatives with product design teams.
• Prepare cost estimates, labor projections, and project schedules.
• Own project execution from requirements through commissioning and budget.
• Maintain technical knowledge and be primary point of accountability on status.
• Collaborate with engineering teams during detailed design and procurement decisions.
