Job summary

Knobelsdorff (KE) is seeking a senior automation engineer to lead control system design, programming, and commissioning on diverse automation projects. You will deliver reliable, scalable industrial control solutions and mentor junior staff while ensuring safety and quality align with KE values.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, a degree in electrical engineering or computer science, and hands-on experience with RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, and Rockwell tools.

Qualifications

• 5+ years programming experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science, or equivalent education/experience
• Experience with RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, and Rockwell portfolio suite
• Experience with Step 7 and TIA Portal is beneficial
• Experience with HMI/SCADA screens, preferably Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or Wonderware
• Working knowledge of Ethernet/IP and multiple fieldbus protocols

Responsibilities

• Lead automation projects from conception to completion within timelines and budget
• Design control systems including panel design, networking, and field device specs
• Interpret P&ID and process docs for control system design and programming
• Create I/O lists, specs, test procedures, and manuals
• Develop PLC/HMI/SCADA programs using modular, reusable techniques
• Configure devices like switches, protocol converters, VFDs
• Provide on-site start-up and commissioning support
• Assist technicians with field modifications as needed
• Participate in client meetings to define scope and requirements
• Support field techs with PLC/HMI/SCADA programming
• Troubleshoot and revise existing project programs
• Work independently and in teams on multiple projects
• Stay current with industry best practices and developments
• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors and internal teams
• Demonstrate critical thinking and strong presentation skills
• Prolonged start-ups may require extended hours and travel up to 30%
