Job summary

Knobelsdorff is seeking an Automation Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission industrial automation projects. You will deliver reliable control solutions, lead projects from concept to completion, and communicate clearly with clients and teams.

You will work with Rockwell software, implement HMI/SCADA screens, and stay current with industry best practices while traveling up to 30% for start-ups and field support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ programming experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA applications.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience.
• Detailed knowledge of industrial control systems, motor control, and field instrumentation.
• Proficiency with RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, and the Rockwell portfolio suite.
• Experience with Step 7 and TIA Portal is beneficial.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA screens, preferably Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or Wonderware.
• Working knowledge of Ethernet/IP protocol and multiple fieldbus standards.
• Knowledge of scripting languages and databases.
• Strong time management, communication, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Technically lead automation projects from conception to completion within timelines and budgets.
• Design industrial control systems including control panel design and field device specifications.
• Interpret P&ID, Process Flows, and specs for control system design and programming.
• Create I/O lists, test procedures, and FDS manuals as needed.
• Develop PLC/HMI/SCADA programs using modular, reusable techniques.
• Configure control system devices like switches, protocol converters, VFDs, and controllers.
• Provide on-site startup and commissioning support.
• Collaborate with clients to define scope and requirements for PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
