Job summary

SGC Engineering is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of automation, communication, and control systems for high-voltage transmission, substations, and renewable energy projects. Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Engineering Technology is required.
• 5+ years of automation/controls engineering experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain one within 6–12 months.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, LAN infrastructure, and standard communication protocols.
• Experience with automation platforms such as GE, Siemens, ABB, or SEL.
• Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
• Experience with electric utility or renewable energy projects preferred.
• Must pass drug screening and background check; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering services related to automation, control, and communication systems.
• Design and configure managed switches, LANs, and secure communication infrastructure.
• Develop programming and configurations for system integration and HMI displays.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and critical infrastructure requirements.
• Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and consultants.
• Support proposal development, project budgeting, and client communications.
• Contribute to contract negotiations and client development efforts.
• Participate in field work, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
