Job summary

Avanceon seeks a Lead Project Engineer with strong Inductive Automation Ignition expertise to drive delivery of customer projects. This role blends hands-on automation with leadership responsibilities, owning technical delivery and coordinating multi-discipline teams.

You will design, develop, and support Ignition-based solutions, integrate PLC/SCADA, and work closely with customers, IT, and operations across the project lifecycle. Travel to sites is required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Ignition experience in production applications.
• Ability to independently develop, troubleshoot, and deploy Ignition solutions in an industrial environment.
• Experience leading engineering teams and owning automation projects from design through commissioning and customer acceptance.
• Experience programming PLC/SCADA with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Schneider Electric preferred.
• Experience integrating SCADA with PLCs, networks, databases, and plant/enterprise systems.
• Working knowledge of SQL and scripting.
• Comfortable communicating with customers across engineering, IT, and operations.
• Ignition Gold Certification preferred; equivalent Ignition project experience will be considered.
• Position can be local or remote but travel to customer sites is required.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers to understand challenges and design automation solutions to improve productivity, efficiency, capacity, and quality.
• Serve as the accountable technical authority for designated projects, owning technical approach and delivery.
• Lead project engineering teams by providing direction, coordinating activities, reviewing work, and resolving issues.
• Partner with Project Manager on planning, scheduling, financial tracking, documentation, and coordination.
• Design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support Ignition applications (Perspective, tags, alarming, historian, scripting, databases, OPC UA, device integration).
• Develop and integrate PLC, HMI/SCADA, and other control solutions across industries and processes.
• Apply Industry 4.0, IIoT, IT, and other emerging technologies as value drivers.
• Collaborate across engineering, operations, IT, and customer teams through the project lifecycle.
