Job summary

Nike is seeking a Controls and Automation Technician in Saint Charles, MO. You will maintain and repair plastics manufacturing equipment, support equipment, and facilities, applying root-cause analysis to breakdowns and driving continuous improvement.

Expect exposure to PLCs, HMI, VFDs, robotics, and CMMS usage within a structured maintenance team. You will work with Maintenance Coaches, Planner, Scheduler, and Coordinator to execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs, reporting to

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Formal training in electronics, control circuitry and PLCs or vocational/military training.
  • 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in plastics manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and robotics.
  • Work with PLCs, ladder logic, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation and calibrations.
  • Use hand tools, machine shop equipment, precision instruments, volt/ohm meters and welding tools.
  • Maintain CMMS records (SAP or eMaint a plus) and train junior team members.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on industrial production and mechatronics equipment.
  • Install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, plant automation and robotics.

Job description

Who we are looking for

As our Controls and Automation Technician, you'll be working with a highly motivated team skilled in the trade of industrial maintenance. You will be responsible for maintenance and repairs of a wide variety of plastics manufacturing equipment, support equipment and general facilities.

Shift : D1- 5:30am-5:30pm Tuesday-Thursday and every other Monday

What you will work on

You will apply root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills in response to breakdown calls and continuous improvement projects. You will use your communication skills and tools to share information with team members, our customers, and your management team on equipment status.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting skills within the areas of mechanical, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics, robotics.
  • Advanced controls and automation knowledge including PLC, ladder logic, HMI's, VFD's, instrumentation, and calibrations.
  • Experience working with basic hand tools, machine shop equipment, precision measuring instruments, Volt/Ohm meters, amp meters, cutting and welding equipment
  • A solid understanding of Microsoft office and computerized maintenance management systems. Experience with CMMS systems SAP or eMaint a plus.
  • Experience with extrusion, thermoform, and zoom processing equipment and its support equipment such as material dryers, loaders and transfer systems is preferred
  • Ability to train/mentor junior team members with focused subject matter expertise in either electrical or mechanical repair
  • Initiate and disable equipment as required by OSHA regulations and company safety procedures for machine activation and shut down
  • Maintain standardized work procedures for PLC troubleshooting, testing and automated equipment controls with several Manufacturing Engineering peers
  • Order parts, supplies, and equipment from catalogues and suppliers, or obtain them from storerooms
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all industrial production and mechatronics equipment
  • Apply your technical skills to install, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems, factory automation and robotics
Who you will work with

You will work with the shift Maintenance Coaches and assist our Planner, Scheduler, Coordinator in the execution of preventive maintenance programs, predictive maintenance protocols while reporting directly to the Maintenance Team Coach.

What you bring
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Formal training in Electronics, Control circuitry and PLC's or vocational, skilled trade or military training
  • 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in plastics manufacturing
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and fluid power schematics and detailed drawings
  • Skilled in trades of fabrication of industrial and manufacturing equipment
  • Able to operate fork truck, manual lift, and scissors lift
  • May be required to perform a wide variety of physical tasks which are generally basic, repetitive, and routine. May be required to sit or stand for long periods, in addition to being required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, or pull
