Job summary

CDM Smith in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced engineer to design instrumentation, controls and related systems using 3D/4D design practices, including development of P&IDs and control descriptions. You will assist with PLC/HMI programming, testing and startup, and review contractor drawings.

You will lead and mentor junior staff, support proposals and marketing for Automation strategy, and travel up to 40% as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• 5 years related experience required.
• Driver's license required.
• Willingness to travel 20-40%.
• Water/Wastewater experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates instrumentation, controls designs using 3D/4D design practices and develops P&IDs and control descriptions.
• Develops HMI graphics and programs PLC; assists testing and startup of control systems.
• Reviews shop drawings and oversees testing as needed.
• Leads staff and mentors junior engineers; reviews work as required.
• Contributes to proposals and supports automation strategy and marketing activities.
