Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a qualified engineer to design instrumentation, controls and related systems using 3D and 4D design practices. You will develop P&IDs, control architectures and specifications for use in control programming, and assist with testing and startup of systems.

Under supervision you will mentor junior staff, contribute to proposals, and support marketing and new business activities in line with the Automation strategy. Travel 20% to 40% of the time may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 5 years of related experience or equivalent
• Equivalent experience considered in lieu of a college degree
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as project needs require

Responsibilities

• Creates basic to moderately complex instrumentation, controls and related systems designs using 3D and 4D design practices.
• Creates basic to moderately complex HMI graphics and PLC programming; assists with testing and startup of control systems.
• Reviews component drawings and contractor clarifications; assists with testing oversight.
• Develops P&IDs, control system architectures, specifications and control descriptions for programming.
• Leads staff and mentors junior staff; reviews their work as needed.
• Assists in preparation of proposal sections and presentations; supports marketing and new business activities.
• Performs other duties as required.
