Job summary

LAPORTE is a consulting engineering firm celebrating 25 years in business with 25 offices across North America and Europe. We seek a Senior Controls Engineer to design, program, and manage automation projects in pharmaceutical and food & beverage sectors, using Allen‑Bradley PLC/PACs and FactoryTalk View ME/SE HMI/SCADA.

You will lead construction packages, mentor teams, and provide lifecycle support from design through commissioning.

Qualifications

B.S. in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering or related field.
6+ years in control systems, manufacturing, or consulting-design environments.
Experience commissioning systems and leading projects.
Proficiency with Rockwell Automation software and industrial controls design.

Responsibilities

Lead and support automation project design for panels, networks, and software (PLC/SCADA).
Translate applications into detailed construction packages for control panels and electrical scopes.
Mentor and supervise project team members to improve collaboration.
Provide lifecycle support including system design, testing, and commissioning.
Perform site surveys and hands-on support during installation of control systems.
Ensure compliance with UL508A, NEC and related standards.
Engage in diverse projects to build engineering and project management skills.
Travel 20-40% depending on project requirements, including 1–3 day sites and longer commissioning trips.
