Job summary

UC Santa Barbara Transportation & Parking Services is seeking an experienced automotive technician to maintain and repair UCSB fleet vehicles including gasoline, diesel, natural gas, hybrid, and electric models at the Central Garage Office. The role requires 5+ years in hands-on maintenance, proficiency with advanced diagnostic equipment and a broad range of shop tools, plus a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Working hours are Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with full benefits.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience diagnosing vehicle problems.
Minimum 5 years of experience performing maintenance and repair on vehicles (gasoline, E85, diesel, biodiesel, natural gas, hybrid, and electric).
Experience utilizing a wide range of shop tools & equipment, including advanced electronic diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

15% Vehicle maintenance & inspection: inspect systems, perform scheduled services, and ensure safety.
35% Vehicle diagnosis & repair: diagnose problems, perform repairs, test drive, and ensure safety.
25% Customer service: assist customers at fuel/car wash stations and dispatch vehicles.
20% Lead duties: cover for Garage Supervisor and coordinate team activities.
