Job summary

Bladen County is seeking an experienced Auto Mechanic II to inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine to moderately complex maintenance on county vehicles, including trucks and cars. Responsibilities include ordering parts, scheduling in-house and out-of-shop work, and maintaining fuel-card and vehicle records.

Reports to the Operations Director. The role requires strong knowledge of automotive systems, safety practices, and the ability to supervise others while ensuring accurate record keeping

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma supplemented by five to six years of experience in the maintenance and repair of vehicles and light equipment.
• Proven ability to inspect, troubleshoot, and perform routine to moderately complex maintenance and repair work on County vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Performs supervisor and lead duties for other mechanics in the department.
• Maintains accurate records of maintenance performed on County vehicles.
• Schedules work on vehicles in-house as well as out-of-shop.
