Job summary

The Legal Aid Society seeks an Assistant Attorney-in-Charge for the Bronx Trial Office with a strong Juvenile Delinquency Practice focus. The AAIC will lead the office, supervise staff, and collaborate on training and policies to improve client service in juvenile cases.

Required admission to the NYS Bar and 5+ years in child welfare or juvenile delinquency, with supervisory potential preferred. The role emphasizes equity, staff development, and community collaboration.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the NYS Bar and 5+ years of legal practice in child welfare and/or juvenile delinquency.
• Strong leadership and supervisory potential preferred, with extensive litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and managerial leadership to the Bronx Trial Office in collaboration with the Borough Attorney-in-Charge.
• Maintain staff accountability, supervise, mentor, and train Juvenile and Adolescent Defender Practitioners.
• Develop and implement litigation strategy and ensure high quality client service across cases.
• Oversee office operations, resource planning, and equitable management practices.
