The Lead Attendant coordinates and directs the daily activities of Attendants in Environmental Services. Accountable for moving, transporting, and/or handling hazardous waste within the facility. A Brief Overview

The Lead Attendant coordinates and directs the daily activities of Attendants in Environmental Services. Accountable for moving, transporting, and/or handling hazardous waste within the facility. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision, and Values.


What you will do
  • Assists in supervision and coordination of assignments for Associates.
  • Assures continuity of quality service in the Supervisor’s absence.
  • Moves, transports, and/or handles hazardous waste within the facility.
  • Assists with controlling usage of supplies and dilution of chemicals.
  • Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.

Education/Formal Training Requirements
Work Experience Requirements
  • 1-3 years in Housekeeping/Environmental Services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and to read and follow written instructions commensurate with requisite education.
  • Knowledge of housekeeping activities commensurate with experience.
  • Demonstrable leadership potential.
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with co-workers.
  • Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, and maintain control of own and others' workflow.

Supervision Provided by this Position
  • The Lead Attendant is responsible for explaining and demonstrating policies and procedures to new and current Associates.

Physical Demands
  • Possible exposure to patient body fluids or hazardous and poisonous materials.
  • Ability to react quickly in emergency situations.
  • Ability to understand simple oral instructions and communicate simple information orally.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand written and oral communications.
  • Normal vision, including color vision, to detect color-coded infection control stickers.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, squat, and kneel periodically throughout the shift.
  • Position requires routine reaching and bending periodically throughout the shift.
  • Ability to have good physical coordination.
  • Ability to grip and squeeze with repetitive hand and wrist motion periodically throughout the shift.
