Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace is seeking a Lead Atomic Physicist to drive R&D in quantum and optical sensing within the Advanced Sensing Technology group in the US. You will guide projects, shape technology directions, and contribute to both defense and commercial sensing programs.

The role requires 10+ years in AMO physics, strong leadership, and success in PM and collaboration with sponsors and customers. US citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of R&D experience in AMO physics, focusing on quantum or optical sensing.
  • Experience proposing and winning DOD-funded programs.
  • Technical leadership and program management experience.
  • US Citizens or permanent residents due to contract requirements.

As a Lead Atomic Physicist in Honeywell Aerospace's Advanced Sensing Technology group, you will use your technical and managerial skills to support several projects in a fast-paced R&D environment. In this role, you will have the opportunity to drive research and development of technologies such as atomic clocks, atomic RF sensors, and photonics. You will have input into a variety of strategically important business-critical tasks in the growing field of quantum and optical sensing.

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of our team of scientists and engineers to develop new atomic sensor technology concepts, and demonstrate them in practical devices.
  • Engage with customers and partners to define their needs and requirements, then apply your skills to find creative solutions through rigorous analysis, engineering, and experimentation.
  • Effectively communicate your ideas and results to research sponsors, scientific peers, and business leadership, through effective presentations, publications, and the writing of proposals.
  • Use your expertise to spur the growth of our technology portfolio in new directions, shaping the future of sensing technology.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • >10 years of R&D experience in AMO physics, especially in the areas of quantum sensing technologies including Atomic sensors, Optical Sensors, or photonics
  • Extensive experiences in proposing and winning DOD-funded programs

US PERSONS REQUIREMENT

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

The annual base salary range for this position is $150,000-165,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell Aerospace considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
