Job summary

Roadrunner Venture Studios is recruiting a Head of Atmospheric Research to lead atmospheric science, modelling, and deployment validation for a frontier tech portfolio company. You will set scientific direction, build the team, and work hands-on across meteorology, data assimilation, and high-performance computing to support growth.

The role involves frequent travel and a fast-paced startup environment with significant equity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in atmospheric sciences or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Broad experience in atmospheric science, weather prediction, and numerical weather prediction.
• Experience configuring, running, and analyzing WRF and data assimilation systems.

Responsibilities

• Set scientific strategy for evaluating atmospheric conditions and deployment criteria.
• Integrate forecasts, datasets, soundings, radar, and satellite data into assessments.
• Lead WRF modeling and data assimilation for deployment planning and analysis.
• Build and manage an atmospheric science team and collaborate with partners.

Education

Bachelor's degree or higher in atmospheric science, meteorology, physics, computer science, data science, or a related field
