Job summary

UHA University Health Associates in Morgantown, WV seeks an athletic trainer to lead a comprehensive sports medicine program for intercollegiate athletics. You will provide injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation, and work with coaches, physicians, and parents to optimize athlete health.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in athletic training or physiology, state licensure, and National Certification, with at least three years of experience; five years preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or Physiology required.
  • Current Licensure as required by the state where services are provided.
  • Nationally Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Three years of experience in Athletic Training.

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-site injury prevention, taping, bracing, and warm-up supervision.
  • Responds to acute injuries and emergencies during practices and games.
  • Conducts injury evaluations and coordinates referrals.
  • Manages concussion protocols and return-to-play progression.
  • Travels with teams as needed, often afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Conduct musculoskeletal assessments using clinical and functional testing.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Coordinate referrals to physicians, physical therapists, or specialists when necessary.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises and modalities to promote healing.
  • Track progress and adjust plans based on recovery status.
  • Educate on injury prevention and safe return-to-activity protocols.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate treatment records.
  • Ensure HIPAA/compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Communicate with medical professionals, coaches, parents, and patients.
  • Serve as a resource for injury prevention and athletic health education.
  • Determine fitness for participation pre-season and post-injury.
  • Assist in selecting and fitting protective equipment.
  • Maintain an efficient athletic training room and equipment.
  • Act as mentor for the athletic training group.
  • Coordinate day-to-day for the athletic training group.

Job description

Provides lead work direction, guidance and training to other full- and part-time employees in Athletics; performs the full range of athletic trainer duties; develops, coordinates and implements a comprehensive sports medical program focused on prevention and care of athletic injuries related to intercollegiate sports and physical education; provides information to student athletes on injury prevention; administers treatment and rehabilitation to injured athletes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
