Qualifications

  • High School/GED or equivalent required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Personal Trainer Certification (ACSM preferred).
  • Group Exercise Certifications (AFAA preferred).
  • Knowledge of exercise science and prescription.
  • Ability to develop fitness regimens and use equipment safely.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Primary athletic training coverage for multiple Olympic sports; prevent and care for athletic injuries.
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries under supervision; maintain certifications (NATA, BOC) and WV license; CPR/AED certified.
  • Maintain accurate treatment and injury records; communicate injury status with coaching staff.
  • Assist with inventory, insurance requirements reconciliation for student-athletes.
  • Coordinate athletic training coverage for institutional summer camps.
  • Prepare, record, and retain required documentation; report knowledge of rules violations.

This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of athletic training services for multiple NCAA Div. II Olympic Sports programs. The position will also coordinate student-athlete insurance reconciliations and support institutional summer camp coverage.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School/ GED Equivalent
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Personal Trainer Certification (American College of Sports Medicine Preferred)
  • Group Exercise Certification(s) (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America Preferred)
  • Necessary skills include:
    • Knowledge of the field of exercise science and prescription.
    • Knowledge to develop and implement fitness regimens.
    • Knowledge of proper use and care of many types of recreational equipment.
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical skills to identify problems, assess alternatives, and render consistent logical decisions in terms of health related issues.
    • Ability to operate a personal computer with the knowledge of basic office software and software used to schedule events and facilities.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively as a member of a goal oriented team.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse group of individuals.
    • Excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills
  • 1 year experience in development and/or execution of group Exercise Classes and PT Programs
  • 1 year experience working in a high-volume recreational facility with demonstrated competency in customer service.

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with a collegiate athletics setting

  • Sports Coverage and Clinical Athletic Training Responsibilities Primary athletic training coverage for the multiple Olympic sports; Assist with the prevention and care of athletic related injuries for all sports programs; Provide evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses under the general supervision of the head athletic trainer and team physician; Maintain current certification and credentials consistent with NATA ; BOC certified; Certified to practice in West Virginia and CPR / AED certified; Maintain accurate and up-to-date written treatment and injury records; Provide regular communication with coaching staff regarding injury and participation status of student-athletes; Modest travel required in support of primary sport(s) Administrative Responsibilities Assist in the improvement and assimilation of sports medicine policies and procedures; Assist with all aspects of inventory control; Verify and document that University and NCAA insurance requirements are met for student-athletes; Coordination and oversight of athletic training coverage for institutional summer camps; Prepare, record and retain documentation as required; Perform other duties as assigned; Report any knowledge of rules violations
