Job summary

Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado seeks an Assistant Director of Sports Medicine / Athletic Trainer to lead and modernize our premier program. You will oversee scheduling, inventory, and administrative workflows while delivering high-quality clinical care and event coverage.

The role requires a Master’s in Athletic Training, BOC certification, and Colorado licensure eligibility, with 2+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Athletic Training, current BOC certification.
• Colorado licensure eligibility.
• 2+ years of professional experience in sports medicine.

Responsibilities

• Lead Sports Medicine Operations: Partner with the Director to manage scheduling, inventory and administrative workflows.
• Provide Clinical Athletic Training & Event Coverage: conduct orthopedic evaluations, fit braces, oversee game coverage and return-to-play decisions.
• Elevate Emergency & Environmental Safety: implement emergency action plans, assess heat index and lightning, deliver safety education to coaches and admins.
• Supervise & Mentor: guide graduate assistants, interns and staff to advance sports medicine practices.
• Manage Compliance & Education: administer the DrugFree Sport program, oversee EMR systems, conduct safety trainings.
