St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Inc. seeks an Associate Scientist to lead the scientific and operational wet-lab program as the Eislmayr Laboratory is built from the ground up.

You will guide cell culture, bacterial operations, and graduate to CRISPR-engineered lines while shaping culture and infrastructure. You will oversee lab setup,Inventory management, and compliance with BSL-2 standards, mentoring junior staff and coordinating projects across sections of the lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific area.
• 7+ years of research experience.
• 5+ years of research experience with a Master’s.
• 2+ years of research experience with a PhD.

Responsibilities

• Lead the laboratory's cell culture and bacterial operations.
• Maintain mammalian cell lines and primary cultures, including intestinal organoids.
• Develop stable and CRISPR-engineered cell lines; validate and maintain bacterial stocks.
• Perform molecular biology and biochemical techniques including cloning, transformation, transductions, transfections, immunoprecipitations, Western blotting, fluorescence and confocal microscopy.
• Conduct in vitro and in vivo infection experiments.
• Analyze data and maintain high-quality research documentation.
• Contribute to manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations at lab meetings, seminars, and conferences.
