Job summary

AUTOKINITON is seeking an experienced Engineer to lead assembly process activities, maintain tooling, and drive equipment readiness for production in Plymouth, Michigan. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and requires strong expertise in tooling, APQP, and metal joining processes.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 6+ years of manufacturing experience, and hands-on knowledge of MIG welding, projection welding, clinch fasteners, and stamping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum six years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
• Experience in metal joining, including MIG welding, resistance projection welding, clinch fasteners, and stamping processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assembly process meetings, maintain the assembly equipment, and update tooling timing charts.
• Manage capability of all production tooling; track, coordinate, and execute corrective actions.
• Monitor tool uptime/downtime metrics to determine priorities.
• Support customer meetings, internal meetings, and project reviews.
• Interface with internal departments to keep equipment and tool status up to date.
• Participate in launch and production startup activities and coordinate all tryout materials.
• Maintain assembly equipment and tooling program & log issues.
• Manage all tool engineering changes and APQP procedures.
