What You Will Contribute

The Lead Assembler is responsible for leading a team of assemblers over multiple product families. Duties include communicating with employees, management, and sales regarding daily assembly requirements and implementing safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.

Job Duties
  • Coordinates the day-to-day operation by leading and directing a group of employees to assure a smooth workflow; organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet production schedule.
  • Reads and follows specifications and other instructions in order to build and assemble products and examine completed work to detect defects and verify conformance to work orders, correcting any problems.
  • Provides a thorough technical understanding of production and assembly practices.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.
  • Acts as liaison, representing the team in general; point of contact for general assembly and quality control questions.
  • Trains new employees and instructs employees on the proper use of equipment and tools.
  • Displays strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with Managers, Planning and Customer Service.
  • Provides input to improve assembly processes with a focus on safety, quality, on-time delivery and cost.
Education and Experience
  • High School Degree/GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in assembly/leadership desired.
Qualifications
  • Lean 101 training preferred.
  • Experience in a Lean environment preferred.
  • Experience with electronic assembly required.
  • Demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude along with the ability to read prints and measure parts while maintaining a customer-focused mentality required.
  • Ability to work extended hours and occasional weekend shifts as needed required.

Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds and complete an audiogram test.
  • Those working in the aerospace department must be able to pass a vision, color vision, and depth perception test.
  • This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
