Job summary

Badger Meter in Solon, IA is seeking an Assembler II to join our manufacturing team. You will assemble parts per Work Instructions and Drawings, rotate across departments, and ensure accuracy and quality in every build.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in assembly/manufacturing, basic math and measurement skills, and comfort using ERP systems and MS Office. This role offers a purpose-driven environment with growth opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree/GED preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in assembly/manufacturing desired.
  • Understand gluing and centering to specific tolerances.
  • If applicable, ability to use function generators and multimeter test equipment.
  • Basic proficiency with computers including an ERP system and Microsoft Office required.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts according to Work Instructions and Drawings; may rotate across departments.
  • Use hand, battery, electric and pneumatic powered tools to complete assemblies.
  • Operate circular saws and deburring tools for modified assemblies as needed.
  • Use laser etcher, dot peen etcher and engraver for modified assemblies per customer specs.
  • Record day-to-day activity in Production system and monitor inventory via LX screens.
  • Assist in safety, quality, delivery and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Train colleagues in department processes.
  • Perform basic 5S and Lean practices to maintain a clean, safe workspace.

What You Will Contribute:

The Assembler II is responsible for assembling parts according to specified Work Instructions and/or Drawings and exhibits the ability to effectively complete critical component assemblies. This position may be required to rotate throughout the facility in a variety of assembly tasks.

Job Duties:
  • Use basic Hand, battery, electric and pneumatic powered tools to complete assemblies.

  • Use circular saws, deburring tools to complete modified assemblies. (Utility and Flow Only)

  • Use laser etcher, dot peen etcher and engraver to complete modified assemblies to customer specifications. (Utility and Flow Only)

  • Calibrate gas to test sensors. (Analytical Technologies Only)

  • Use basic printing programs to complete customer orders when required for a specific job and make adjustments when needed on your own.

  • Use Production system to record day-to-day customer order activity, view work instructions and report completed work.

  • Navigate through basic LX screens to identify Inventory requirements and status as needed and utilize system as required to make adjustments.

  • Take initiative to ensure priority items are completed and when needed seek out additional information from lead or Supervisor.

  • Participate and Contribute to Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost continuous improvement efforts.

  • Train others in the department.

  • Perform basic 5S and Lean concepts to ensure a clean, safe, and efficient workplace

Education and Experience:
  • High School Degree/GED Preferred

  • 3+ years of experience in assembly/manufacturing desired

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a Manufacturing environment

  • Depending on the assigned department, must be able to demonstrate the ability to lift up to 60 pounds and complete an audiogram test

  • Those working in the Aerospace department must be able to pass a Vision, Color Vision, and Depth perception test

  • This position requires good manual dexterity, coordination and stamina.

  • Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
