Job summary

Filevine is seeking a Lead Architect to bridge complex system design with strong technical leadership, scaling a mature platform while mentoring engineers. This role focuses on architectural strategy for high‑scale production systems and the modernization of legacy components.

You will collaborate with product, security and finance, translate business needs into robust designs, and advocate for engineering excellence through documentation and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proven technical depth with experience in large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to model high-level service design for long-term scalability.
• Deep knowledge of data persistence layers and suitable use cases.
• Significant cloud experience (AWS preferred) and architecture awareness.
• Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills for diverse audiences.
• Leadership mindset focused on serving teams and mentoring engineers.
• Capacity to translate business needs into technical design.

Responsibilities

• Architectural strategy: design and oversee high‑scale, production systems that are modular and extensible.
• System modernization: migrate legacy systems toward a modern target‑state architecture.
• Cross‑functional translation: bridge engineering with product, security and finance.
• Documentation & visualization: produce clear technical docs and diagrams.
• Collaborative design: lead design sessions while enabling team ownership.
• Cloud & cost optimization: manage AWS-enabled infrastructure with performance and cost focus.
• Mentorship & growth: act as a high‑level mentor to engineering teams.
• Technology scouting: identify current technologies and trends worth adoption.
