Humana, Inc. seeks a Lead Applied Scientist to design, develop, and scale intelligent decision systems powering the Next Best Action platform. You will lead end-to-end ML and decision policies, from prototyping to production monitoring, partnering with engineers and stakeholders.

The role combines ML, decision science, and software engineering to deliver scalable, production-ready systems that improve healthcare experiences for millions of members.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, engineering, math, stats, OR related quantitative field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in ML, applied science, decision science, or related engineering.
• Experience designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring ML solutions in production.
• Solid understanding of RL, sequential decision making, or similar techniques.
• Strong Python with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience with distributed data processing and platforms like Databricks, PySpark, Ray.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: architecture, testing, scalable design.
• Proven ability to translate business problems into analytical models and production solutions.
• Experience owning models across full lifecycle.

Aufgaben

• Design, develop, and scale ML models for personalized recommendations and policy learning.
• Apply decision science and simulation to formulate complex decision problems.
• Develop and improve production ML pipelines using Python, PyTorch, Databricks, PySpark, Ray RLlib, and MLflow.
• Design experiments, simulations and offline evaluations with appropriate metrics.
• Own models and decision policies through prototyping, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate with software engineering and platform teams to ensure scalable, reliable systems.
• Incorporate clinical eligibility, member preferences, and business rules into intelligent decision making.
