Humana, Inc. is seeking a Lead Applied Scientist to design, develop, and scale intelligent decision systems powering its NBA platform.

You will own models and decision policies end-to-end, driving production deployments and continuous improvement across healthcare-focused recommendations. The role requires strong ML/RL expertise, production experience, and collaboration with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (CS/Engineering/Math/Stats/OR) or equivalent.
• 6+ years of professional experience in machine learning, applied science, decision science, or related engineering.
• Strong experience designing, deploying, and monitoring ML solutions in production.
• Solid understanding of reinforcement learning, sequential decision making, or related techniques.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Experience with distributed data processing and ML platforms (Databricks, PySpark, Ray, or similar).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to own models end-to-end.

Aufgaben

• Design, develop, and improve ML and RL models for personalized recommendations and sequential decision making.
• Apply decision science and simulation to formulate complex problems and improve outcomes.
• Develop production ML pipelines and large-scale data processing and inference.
• Design experiments, offline evaluations, and metrics to assess model effectiveness and policy behavior.
• Own models and policies through prototyping, testing, deployment, and monitoring; collaborate with SDEs and platform teams.
• Incorporate constraints from clinical eligibility, member preferences, and business rules into decision systems.
• Provide technical leadership on architecture, evaluation methods, and scalable system design.
