Job summary

Veolia Water Technologies is seeking a Lead Applications Technologist to solve advanced PFAS mitigation challenges in water treatment, combining lab work with process design. You will lead laboratory, bench-scale, pilot-scale, and field studies while applying engineering, chemistry, biology, statistics, and modeling to deliver practical, cost-effective solutions.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience developing treatment processes and process designs for water and wastewater applications.
  • Experience operating laboratory, bench-scale, pilot-scale, or demonstration-scale treatment systems.
  • Experience with analytical characterization of water and wastewater samples.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the development or application of physicochemical treatment processes for municipal and/or industrial water and wastewater treatment.
  • Strong interest in or experience with PFAS treatment and mitigation strategies.
  • Three or more years of experience supporting industrial and/or municipal water treatment applications is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing, data analysis, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct treatability and feasibility studies in alignment with business goals and customer requirements.
  • Develop project proposals, including technical protocols, scope, budgets, and schedules, in collaboration with cross-functional project teams.
  • Design, set up, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory, bench-scale, and pilot-scale treatment systems.
  • Support field studies, including the development and execution of sampling and testing programs.
  • Apply engineering, chemistry, biology, statistical analysis, and process modeling principles to evaluate treatment processes and develop innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with commercial, engineering, technical, and market development teams.
  • Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory and analytical instrumentation.
  • Maintain laboratory operations in accordance with chemical hygiene plans, environmental health and safety requirements, and quality assurance programs.
