Job description

Job Description: Application Support Specialist

The incumbent leverages expert knowledge to support application users with complex administrative requirements, including configuration design, modifications, data analysis, upgrades, and conversions. This role focuses on application administration support for complex applications within a community of business (CoB) and/or County-wide (enterprise) user base. Responsibilities include programming support for ancillary add-ons and user exits, creating processes for user feedback and application optimization, and conducting training for end-users. The incumbent stays current on legal and technical issues affecting the County.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Communicate with end-users and vendors to gather requirements for projects and updates.
  2. Design, develop, maintain, and test new and modified functionalities, documenting processes and procedures.
  3. Install, modify, and maintain system tables and configurations based on business needs.
  4. Update training documentation and support end-user training sessions.
  5. Partner with business units to identify system improvements and implement optimizations.
  6. Provide second-level support for complex application requests and issues.
  7. Manage configuration and perform statistical reporting to aid management decisions.
  8. Monitor interface logs, analyze trends, and resolve data and application problems proactively.
  9. Maintain business process procedures and resolve user tickets, providing technical support.
  10. Collaborate with vendors on issue resolution and deployments.
  11. Manage user access rights and perform related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree + 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • Associate's degree + 5 years, or
  • High School diploma/GED + 7 years of experience.

Prior supervisory experience, valid driver's license, and certifications such as ITIL Foundation are preferred. Extensive experience with business applications in large enterprise environments is required. Strong interpersonal, customer service, multitasking, and communication skills are essential. Ability to work independently or in teams, with attention to detail, is mandatory. Proof of education must be provided at hire.

Background checks, including criminal and possibly credit reports, are conducted. The incumbent must be able to perform physical tasks and work overtime as needed.
