Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in the United States to design, build, and operate scalable enterprise software solutions. You will own external and internal APIs, microservices, and cloud-native platforms, collaborating across teams to deliver secure, observable, and resilient systems.

The role emphasizes driving engineering excellence, mentoring engineers, and implementing comprehensive testing and security practices in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, API development, and distributed systems.
• Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting external and internal REST APIs used by customers, partners, and internal apps.
• Strong experience building and operating microservices-based architectures, including service communication, scalability, resiliency, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong proficiency with Angular (16+), TypeScript, component-based architecture, state management, routing, and API integration.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, AKS, or similar container platforms.
• Solid understanding of cloud-native engineering: observability, logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, fault tolerance.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices for automated build, deploy, test, release.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, Entity Framework, data access patterns, and API-centric design.
• Experience using Git and GitHub for collaboration.
• Excellent communication, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain external and internal RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend platforms using C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and cloud-native patterns.
• Build scalable, secure, and highly available services for customer-facing products and enterprise workflows.
• Lead design and implementation of microservice-based architectures, including API contracts, observability, and performance optimization.
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions with containerization and automation, including monitoring and CI/CD.
• Develop modern web apps using Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, UX designers, and engineers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Drive engineering excellence with code quality, test automation, CI/CD, and Agile practices.
• Own technical design decisions, architecture & code reviews, and mentoring.
• Define and implement comprehensive testing strategies: unit, integration, API testing, automation, quality gates.
• Address security across the software lifecycle with secure coding practices and vulnerability remediation.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality while ensuring security.
• Stay current on cloud, API ecosystems, and modern software engineering; bring innovative ideas.
