Role Objective:

The Lead AOG (Aircraft on Ground) Technician is responsible for leading a team of AOG technicians in the timely and efficient resolution of aircraft maintenance issues that result in AOG conditions. This role ensures aircraft are returned to service safely, in compliance with regulatory standards, and with minimal downtime. The Lead AOG Technician serves as the primary point of contact for maintenance coordination, technician oversight, and communication with internal and external stakeholders during AOG events.

Essential Job Tasks:

  • Coordinate and lead AOG response activities, ensuring all necessary resources, tools, and personnel are deployed.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and repair aircraft systems and components during AOG events.
  • Direct and oversee AOG technicians to ensure adherence to safety and maintenance protocols.
  • Maintain clear documentation of all work performed and ensure compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate status updates to maintenance control, operations, and customer service teams.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and parts are available and in working condition for AOG responses.
  • Conduct quality checks and ensure proper sign-offs on completed work.
  • Mentor and train AOG technicians, fostering professional growth and skill development.
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to resolve complex maintenance issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.

Work Authorization:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Sponsorship for employment visa status is not available for this position.

Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced ad dynamic field environment.
  • Exposure to aircraft hangars, ramps, and potentially harsh weather conditions.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Frequent interaction with operations, dispatch, and technician teams.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to life and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing, bending, climbing, and working in confined spaces or at heights for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed inspections and repairs.

Travel:

  • Frequent travel required for AOG events, including short notice and overnight stays.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain airport security clearance where applicable.

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or technical certification in Aviation Maintenance preferred.
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in AOG or field maintenance roles.
  • Experience in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  • Familiarity with a variety of aircraft types and manufacturers.
