Job summary

Afton Scientific, located on-site in Charlottesville, VA, seeks an experienced Supervisor for the Quality Control Analytical Chemistry Laboratory. The role oversees daily lab operations, supports manufacturing, ensures compliance with cGMP and regulatory requirements, and provides technical leadership to the team.

The ideal candidate has strong analytical chemistry expertise, proven leadership, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field required.
5–7 years pharma analytical lab experience preferred.
Experience with cGMP, GDP and GLP in pharma environment.
Strong written and verbal communication; MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

Supervise daily operations of the QC Analytical Chemistry Laboratory.
Coach and develop laboratory staff in partnership with Lab Manager.
Perform and oversee analytical testing of finished products, APIs, and raw materials.
Ensure compliance with FDA, ICH, USP/NF, EU, GDP, GLP and cGMP requirements.
Design, validate, and implement analytical methods and instruments.
Review documentation and ensure regulatory compliance and traceability.
Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and verification of lab instrumentation.
Participate in audits and support client/regulatory inspections.
