Kaman Air Vehicles in Bloomfield, CT is seeking a Chief Inspector who reports to the Senior Quality Manager. You will supervise repair station activities to ensure compliance with FAA regulations and manufacturer recommendations, and approve return-to-service for aircraft and components.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Aviation Maintenance Technology, Quality Systems, or a related field.
• Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
• Minimum of 4 years of aircraft-related quality experience.
• Minimum of 10 years of technical experience with Part 91 aircraft.
• Experience in a highly regulated quality assurance environment.
• Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and requirements, including FAR Parts 43, 91, and 145.
• Knowledge of FAA Orders, Advisory Circulars, Airworthiness Directives, Form 337, Form 8100-1, Form 8130-3, STCs, and other aviation documentation.
• Ability to meet the eligibility requirements for appointment as an FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the Repair Station complies with regulatory requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
• Ensure technicians are familiar with the Repair Station & Quality Manual, product specs and data, Type Certificate Data Sheets, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, and other FAA-approved data.
• Ensure defective, unairworthy, or unapproved parts are not used for maintenance or repair.
• Oversee proper tagging and identification of all parts and components.
• Approve aircraft and components for return to service after CFR and data requirements are met.
• Ensure certificated and non-certificated personnel performing inspections are qualified.
• Support development and implementation of quality standards, methods, and procedures.
• Support training programs to strengthen employees’ knowledge of procedures and requirements.
• Maintain relationships with local regulatory authorities to support compliance.
• Follow procedures for completing and filing inspection forms.
• Perform conformity inspections on Part 21 products.
• Review and sign FAA Form 8130-3 Airworthiness Approvals for DMIR and for Part 145 products.
• Review Part 145 work orders for return to service.
• Generate and maintain component service cards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
