Job summary

Participle is seeking a founding Lead AI Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to own the core technical architecture, data pipelines, and cloud deployment. You will drive end-to-end technical execution from multimodal RAG pipelines to scalable Go microservices and AWS deployments.

Lead AI Systems & Infrastructure Engineer (Founding Technical Lead)

Location: Remote / Hybrid

Compensation: $120,000 – $140,000 Base Salary + Up to 4.0% Equity

We build adaptive study engines, agentic course migration pipelines, and automated grading systems designed for scale—processing multimodal syllabus data, behavioral reasoning signatures, and real-time student telemetry while maintaining enterprise-grade security and compliance.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Lead AI Systems & Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of our core technical architecture, data pipeline engineering, and cloud deployment infrastructure. In this role, you will lead end-to-end technical execution—from architecting multimodal Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and custom behavioral models to building scalable, low-latency Go microservices and maintaining high-concurrency AWS deployments.

Key Responsibilities

• Go Backend Architecture: Design and construct high-performance, low-latency backend microservices and API endpoints in Go.


• Data Pipeline & RAG Architecture: Design, optimize, and maintain RAG pipelines with multimodal embeddings (processing PDF syllabi, assignments, and lectures), while training bespoke learning gap models and adaptive algorithms.


• Cloud Infrastructure & Scalability: Oversee AWS cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker), and automated CI/CD deployment pipelines capable of supporting 10,000–40,000+ concurrent users.


• LMS Integration & Migration Pipelines: Develop automated agentic ETL/data migration tools to extract, transform, and load course structures across major legacy platforms (Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle) via LTI and enterprise APIs.


• Compliance & Security Architecture: Ensure system-wide compliance with FERPA, ADA/WCAG accessibility standards, and manage enterprise security standards (SOC 2, HECVAT, VPAT) alongside SSO integrations.

What We Are Looking For

• Language Mastery: Strong command of Go (or demonstrated capability to pick it up immediately to own our Go backend), along with proficiency in Python for data/ML pipelines.


• Data & AI Infrastructure: Demonstrated capability building production RAG pipelines, managing vector/multimodal databases, and fine-tuning domain-specific models.


• DevOps & Scalability: Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, high-concurrency scaling, IAM/SSO, and privacy-sensitive telemetry handling.
