Job summary

MITRE in Bedford, MA and McLean, VA seeks a Lead AI Solutions Architect to drive cross-functional AI enablement, turning platform capabilities into repeatable mission solutions. You will own architecture direction, guide teams, and shape strategic AI initiatives across programs.

Minimum 8 years of related experience with a degree; secret clearance eligibility required. On-site participation 3 days/week and occasional travel to support mission needs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience with a degree; or 6 years with a master; or PhD with 3+ years
• Experience in applied AI, AI/ML workflows, AI-enabled apps, software engineering, data platforms, developer services
• Experience leading functional teams, technical workstreams, or complex projects
• Ability to translate ambiguous needs into executable AI solution architectures
• Ability to work independently and influence senior leadership
• US citizenship and eligibility for Secret security clearance
• On-site presence 3 days/week in McLean, VA or Bedford, MA and travel up to 5%

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery and solution-architecture engagements for complex mission needs
• Develop and lead solution strategies integrating AI apps, data sources, and secure environments
• Direct technical evaluations and synthesize information to propose practical AI approaches
• Lead functional teams and guide contributors without formal supervision
• Establish reusable AI workflows, starter kits, and standardization
• Mentor staff and provide architecture reviews and knowledge transfer
• Advise mission users and stakeholders on AI solution options and timelines
