Job summary

Georgia Pacific is seeking a Lead Software Engineer-AI to design, build, and operate AI-powered applications, primarily computer vision, deployed across 100+ facilities. You will provide technical leadership for cloud and edge AI solutions in Kubernetes/EKS environments, collaborating with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to deliver new AI products.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering in distributed systems
• Experience leading design, architecture decisions, or software delivery teams
• Experience developing, deploying, or supporting ML, CV, AI, or data-driven applications
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, Docker, and Bash
• Experience deploying containerized apps with Kubernetes (EKS) and/or AWS ECS
• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, IAM)
• Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, NATS, MQTT)
• Knowledge of Terraform and Helm
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, deployment, and operation of AI applications across 100+ facilities
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for cloud and edge AI solutions (Kubernetes/EKS)
• Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers on AI initiatives
• Develop production-ready code using modern AI, data, and analytics tech
• Mentor engineers through design/code reviews and leadership activities
• Address technical debt and set best practices for design, reliability, performance, and scalability
• Foster continuous learning and growth within the team
