Job summary

GEICO is seeking a Sr. Staff Software Engineer for the AI Agent Platform to lead backend systems and diverse platform components across the enterprise. You will design, own delivery end to end, and advocate for robust, scalable services that power agent workflows.

You will mentor engineers, drive reliability through SLOs and observability, and collaborate with product teams. GenAI experience and strong backend judgment are a strong plus.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building and operating large-scale production backend systems.
• Tech-lead experience: owned design and delivery of significant systems.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, or Go and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience operating production services with CI/CD and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of major platform components end to end.
• Drive design reviews and set engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and raise the engineering bar.
• Own production health: define SLOs, dashboards, and incident response.
