Job summary

Bitwise in Columbia, MD is seeking a Software Engineer – AI-Enabled Vulnerability Research with an active TS//SCI clearance. You will design, develop, and integrate AI-enabled capabilities for vulnerability research and computer network exploitation, translating mission needs into robust software solutions.

You will mentor engineers, contribute to technical direction, and work across AI research workflows and backend services.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of relevant experience with a B.S. in a technical discipline, or 16+ years without a degree.
• Proficiency in Python and building maintainable software with good architecture.
• Expertise in AI-enabled vulnerability research and evaluation of AI outputs.
• Experience with vulnerability research or software analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain AI-enabled software and research tooling for vulnerability research workflows.
• Own the design and delivery of complex features and subsystems from requirements to deployment.
• Develop AI harnesses that orchestrate research tools and manage execution state.
• Build sandbox-based dynamic analysis capabilities and observe runtime behavior.
• Integrate debugging, instrumentation, fuzzing, crash analysis, and related tools.
• Establish repeatable evaluations measuring validity, reproducibility, and false positives.
• Develop backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and researcher-facing UIs.
• Troubleshoot issues across code, AI integrations, and research environments; improve reliability.
• Lead design reviews, document decisions, and mentor engineers.
