Job summary

BNY Mellon’s Loans Platform team is building a production-grade, AI-enabled engineering platform for loans and structured credit. You will own and ship features across backend services, frontend tooling, AI orchestration, smart contracts, or policy logic, delivering high-quality, auditable systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, technical leadership, and rapid prototyping to de-risk production deployments while driving platform roadmap and client delivery.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record shipping production systems.
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and API design.
• Familiarity with at least one stack layer: backend, frontend, AI/ML, blockchain, or data infra.

Responsibilities

• Take primary ownership of one area of the platform and contribute across the stack (backend Java/Python, React frontend, AI orchestration, smart contracts, or policy logic).
• Design, build, and own components end-to-end from discovery to production deployment.
• Architect event-driven systems using Kafka, containerized deployments, and resilient patterns.
• Lead technical discovery and rapid prototyping to validate new capabilities before production.
• Establish coding standards, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices for a scalable codebase.
• Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and uphold a culture of technical rigor.
• Collaborate with product, operations and compliance to translate business requirements into working systems.
• Communicate technical strategy and trade-offs to senior leadership clearly and concisely.
