This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management — you’ll set technical direction, remove delivery blockers, and grow your team's capabilities, while staying close enough to the code to make sound architectural calls and unblock hard problems.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Python production services, data pipelines, or AI/agent tooling.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team of engineers.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience with relational and document databases (PostgreSQL, DocumentDB).
• Polyglot across languages (Python plus Java or JavaScript).
• Ability to balance hands-on work with people-management responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Set and enforce technical direction for the team's services, built primarily in Python.
• Lead architecture discussions and design reviews for services on AWS.
• Guide data modeling decisions across relational and document stores.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted and agentic development tooling.
• Own delivery timelines and quality for the team's roadmap items.
• Partner with product managers to scope work and estimate effort.
• Coordinate with adjacent teams to manage cross-team dependencies.
• Maintain hands-on involvement to review designs and unblock issues.
