Job summary

Very Big Things seeks a Lead AI Engineer to architect and build an enterprise workflow automation platform. You will partner with the CEO and leadership, owning architecture and delivering AI-enhanced solutions for enterprise customers.

Ideal candidates ship complex systems, lead senior engineers, and communicate clearly. You will deploy across the US, balancing autonomy with customer-focused delivery and rapid iteration.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production software across front-end and back-end.
• 2+ years building with Generative AI in real products.
• LLM-assisted development with prompts, testing, and safe outputs.
• Strong security, RBAC/ABAC, data residency awareness.
• Cloud + DevOps experience (Vercel/AWS/GCP/Azure), IaC.
• Excellent client-facing communication and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core architecture for an enterprise workflow automation platform.
• Make independent architectural decisions about stack and patterns.
• Create robust APIs, integrations, and workflow engines.
• Deploy virtually or on-site into US customer organizations.
• Lead discovery sessions and rapid prototyping for requirements.
• Iteratively integrate AI capabilities to add value.
• Serve as the technical face of the company during engagements.
