Job summary

Archer in San Jose, CA is seeking a Lead Special Programs Engineer – Aeromechanics, Thermal and Acoustics to own aero-thermal-acoustic design for prototype vehicles. You will lead multidisciplinary work across aeromechanics, thermal management, and acoustics, guiding rapid prototyping from concept through bench and flight tests with significant ownership.

You will collaborate across teams, set technical approaches, and produce analysis packages to support reviews and capture decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in aerodynamic performance analysis, thermal management, or acoustics for aerospace systems.
• Familiar with CFD and thermal/fluid modeling and acoustic prediction methods.
• Ability to work across full development lifecycles in fast-paced settings.
• Experience evaluating feasibility of early-stage concepts and independent ownership.
• U.S. Person with ability to obtain security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead aeromechanics, thermal, and acoustic design and analysis for prototype vehicles.
• Support rapid prototyping from concept sizing through bench and flight tests.
• Own the aeromechanics/thermal/acoustics discipline and define methods used on the program.
• Evaluate technical feasibility of new opportunities and approaches.
• Collaborate across Special Programs and other Archer teams to align with timelines.
• Produce technical documents, trade studies, and analysis packages for reviews.
• Represent focus area in internal reviews and with government stakeholders.
